Spirit, please remind us to pray faithfully for people in our neighbourhoods and help us to demonstrate the love and grace of Christ to them. Guide our conversations, that we might honour You with our words and draw others to Your truth. Amen.
Pray for the special Care for the Family Evening on Sunday that many parents will come along to this and find the evening helpful. Pray for Jean Gibson as she prepares for this night that she will be led to deal with issues that are relevant with those attending.
Pray for the special meeting on the evening of Tuesday 8th in church. Pray that those we invite will come along and find the message from Jonathan Berry from true freedom trust on “Human Sexuality and the Love of God” helpful in the midst of so much cultural confusion in this area. http://www.truefreedomtrust.co.uk/
Pray for Bible Study Groups as they meet WB 7th. Pray that as we continue to study the book of Acts that we will have a renewed vision to see God at work in our church and His spirit moving in a mighty way. Pray too that we will grow in boldness in sharing the gospel as the early disciples.
Pray for those who are considering becoming members of the church that they will be able to make that commitment. Pray for the need for younger people to commit to full membership. The number of members in church under the age of forty is decreasing every year.
Pray for all churches who are feeling the strain financially at this time. Pray for faith to respond to God in obedience to his call to give to him our tithe.
Pray for Rev Curry that God would continue to give him strength, wisdom and leadership as he leads our congregation. Pray too that as he opens "God’s Word" that hearts and minds will be receptive to it and allow God to work in their lives. Pray for emotion and physical strength as he seeks to support those who are ill and have recently been bereaved.
Pray for the library ministry in church. Pray that there would be an increasing desire for many to read Christian books and grow in our understanding and knowledge of God. Pray too that it might lead to opportunities to build relationships within our congregation.
Continue to pray for the Street-reach Ministry. Keith, Diane, Tom and Lorna are out on Fri 11th. Give thanks for the recognition given recently to this group by the council due to the fact that crime rate is down on the nights the team are out. Continue to pray for the young girl who came to faith last November that she will have courage to take the step to become part of a Christian fellowship. Give thanks that she is continuing to keep in contact with Yvonne and is growing in her faith.
Pray for all church organisations, that leaders and helpers may know God’s support and congregational support, as they give freely of their time to lead and that God may use them to advance His church and Kingdom.
We pray for all those who have been bereaved recently and pray that they may experience God’s special blessing at this time of their loss and sadness. We think especially of the Meharg, Downey and Hogg families at this time of their loss of loved ones.
Pray for those who at this time suffer from illness at home or in hospital. We pray that they and they families might know Gods peace at this time of stress and that God would bring healing. Pray too for those who are undergoing treatment. Pray for wisdom for the medical staff as they care for them.
Pray for the protection of the family unit as financial crisis continues. Pray for families affected by stress and / or the concern of unemployment, that these families may know God’s nearness and Spiritual calmness at this time in their lives and that doors of opportunity may open for them. Pray for the children where parents cannot resolve differences that God may bless and support where confusion exists.
We give thanks for Open Doors / Release International in their campaign to raise the issue of religious discrimination. We pray especially for Christians in countries who cannot share their faith with their children until they are old enough to understand the dangers of unguarded speech. We pray for God’s Blessing and support for all who find themselves under such persecution.
Amidst the present unrest in Arab countries pray that what comes out of the mess would bring freedom for the many who have been oppressed for decades. Pray that the Church of Christ would grow upward and outward and may Jesus' name be honoured throughout the Arab world and beyond.
Continue to pray for the work of Christian Institute and pray for Christians who have difficulty in complying with the current Equality legislation. We pray for God’s support for sensible legislation and that governments may be challenged to uphold Christian values.
Tearfund Global Poverty Prayer Week (28th Feb – 5th Mar) Pray that many people will get involved in the call to prayer for those suffering from the effects of poverty all over the world. Give thanks for the work of Tear Fund in reaching out to those in need. Pray for opportunities to campaign world leaders about changing laws and policies so that the poorest people get a fair deal. Pray for the work of the Faith Mission especially locally as they seek to reach out into the Glens of Antrim area giving out a book specially written by Dick Keogh. Pray for wisdom, guidance and tact for those working in the area mainly Andrew McIlroy and Leslie Brush.
