Thoughts on Prayer –Prevailing Prayer  

“Everything that has ever been accomplished for the Kingdom of God has had its roots in prayer. Every soul saved, every church begun, every missionary sent were all the result of earnest, prevailing prayer.” Unknown “Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly” James 517Pray that as a congregation all we do will be saturated in prayer.  Seeek God’s forgiveness for times when we have served Him in our own strength.  Ask God to show us the work He has for us to do and for strength and wisdom to do it.

 

 

Pray for A Church Family a Day

Specific Prayer Points

Give thanks to our Creator God, for His covenant that He will never leave us nor forsake us, for His never ending Love for us and the invitation freely offered that we may experience Eternal Life through Jesus Christ our Redeemer,

Pray for J Team as it meets on Saturday (4^th).  Pray for good listening of the children in the teaching time and that God might speak into their lives and that they might respond to him.  Give thanks for the good number of older youth who are  keen to help.

Pray for the leaders and young people who are off on youth weekend (10-11^th) at the Port.  Pray for safety in the activities and for a time of building up in their faith.

Pray for the Bible Study Groups as they meet and begin the studies in Elijah.  Pray for folk that we can encourage to come along and study God’s word.  Pray for the holy Spirit to be at work in pour lives so that we might not only be hearers of the word but doers also. Pray too for the Disciple Essential Groups which meet fortnightly.

Give thanks for the continued financial support of our congregational members.  Pray for the Fund Raising Sub-committee as they meet on Monday 6^th  that they will have wisdom as they consider the need to raise finance for the stone work maintenance on the church building.

We pray for those who are ill or receiving treatment and those recovering from surgery, that God’s Spiritual Hand may be close and real to them at this time. We pray for those who have lost loved ones that they may find the God of all comfort and peace in Him.

 Pray for families affected by stress, the concern of unemployment or relationship issues. We pray that His guidance may be evident and the family unit (especially the children) may be kept intact through their difficulties.

SAFER INTERNET DAY (Tues 7^th) As the dangers of internet misuse are highlighted pray that parents will take on more responsibility to ensure that their children are safe on the internet.  Pray that parents will seek to be more informed and equipped so that their children will be able to use the internet wisely, be safe and enjoy its benefits.

Pray for those who suffer from domestic violence, abuse and bullying.  Pray for courage to seek help and for comfort and healing emotionally and physically.

Pray for the Presbyteries as they meet on Tuesday (7^th) to appoint a moderator for the General Assembly.  Pray that they will know God’s leading in this decision

Give thanks for Christian Blind Mission (CBM) and their involvement in restoration of sight in under-privileged countries. Pray that funds will continue to be available to continue this essential mission work.

Open Doors -Nigeria is reeling after numerous bomb attacks on churches, government buildings and police stations left hundreds dead and the country on the verge of civil war. Christians are in a state of perpetual fear for their safety. An early morning attack on a church in Tafawa Balewa, Bauchi state, on 22 January, left at least seven Christians dead and a church building destroyed. Please pray for comfort for the bereaved and healing for the injured. Pray that Christians would have the wisdom to show restraint and the grace to forgive.  Pray too for protection for Open Doors workers as they move around the region to encourage and assist affected Christians and for wisdom for the government in clamping down on the perpetrators of the violence. .

Pray for Derek and Jane French (PCI Spain) as they are running a course this semester among university students called Identity which uses John’s Gospel to address two key questions “Who is God?” and “Who are we?”   Pray that this course will be a great tool for explaining the gospel clearly.   Continue to pray for the various GBU groups and the on-going weekly Bible studies and theological training classes. Pray that students who attend will understand the Bible better, and grow in their faith and relationship with God.
