Thoughts on Prayer   - Prayer is…

1. Communication with God (Mathew 6:9) “Our Father Who is in Heaven.” 2. Based on Relationship (John 14:6) “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.’” 3. Getting God’s Viewpoint (Isaiah 55:8) “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. 4. Submitting to God (Romans 12:1) “I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.” 5. Seeking God’s Will (Luke 22:42) “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from me, yet not my will, but (always) Yours, be done.”

 

 

Pray for A Church Family a Day

Specific Prayer Points

Give thanks to God for His never ending Love for us and the invitation freely offered that we may experience Eternal Life through Jesus Christ our Redeemer, Saviour and friend.  Pray that those who have difficulty in committing their lives to Him may be given encouragement to take that step of faith.

Pray for the English Classes as they continue on Tuesdays am and pm.  Pray that God will raise up someone to take Elizabeth Stewarts place after the summer.

Pray for the All Age Service on Sun 29^th that many parents will attend this and that it will be a special service for the children.  Pray that they children will read the books they receive and that they might be helpful to them. Give thanks for parents who bring their children faithfully to church.  Pray for all who are involved in crèche and junior Sunday school which helps make this possible. 

Pray for all who are involved in preparing for the end of year accounts that they will know God’s help as they meet deadlines.  Pray for the congregational committee as they meet on Tuesday 31^st.  Pray that God would enable us to give back to him out of a thankful heart for all He has done for us.

Pray for those who are ill or receiving treatment and those recovering from surgery, that God’s Spiritual Hand may be close and real to them at this time. Pray for staff working in difficult circumstances within the NHS that they will be able to offer the care the patients need.

We pray for those who have lost loved ones that they may find the God of all comfort and peace in Him. Pray especially for children who have to deal with bereavement that they might receive the support they need.  Remember again the McConkey and McErlain families at this time.

Pray for good health, energy and wisdom for Rev Curry, Keith, Rev Smith and Elders as they offer pastoral care with church family members at times of stress and sadness, financial hardship and disappointment.  Pray for those who are facing unemployment in recent days.

Pray for those who are sitting exams at this time in school and university.

Pray for safety in travel day by day and give thanks for God’s protection.

Pray for Mrs Linda Gibson and Rev Rodney Cameron as they serve God in the chaplaincy team in Maghaberry Prison.   Pray for God’s spirit to be at work in the lives of the prisoners and for spiritual freedom to repent and turn to God.  Pray for the work of the Christian Prison Officers Association, the Quakers and the Prison Fellowship as they seek to offer practical and spiritual support to staff and inmates.

Give thanks for Michael Wilson from Release International for his informative talk Sun 15^th.Pray that many will uplift Release Inter and Open Doors to God through prayer and His power will challenge governments to recognise the injustice of religious persecution in their countries. Pray especially for North Korea and Pakistan that those who desire to worship the Living God may have such persecution lifted. Pray for God’s healing for the families bereaved through the loss of loved ones due to the murderous activities of others. Pray that God may hasten the day when His Name will be honoured on earth.  

Pray for Daniel Glassey as he continues to works in IT support in Thailand with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Give thanks for freedom we have to access God’s word.  Pray for the work of Wycliffe and that God may raise up voices for thousands of language groups that do not have his Word and for translators who will enable them to enjoy the same privilege that we have. Like so many Pastors Pastor Matio in Burkino Faso prepares for Sunday’s worship service using three translations of the Bible, none of them in his own language. “It is difficult to teach people without the Bible in our language,” he says, “When we have it, evangelism will be easy.”
