“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” (Ps. 24:1).”The earth will be full of God’s glory and those who revere his glory—as full as water makes an ocean and ocean” (pp Hab.2:14)

Heavenly Father, one of my favorite hymns dropped like a Gospel-bomb into my fitful sleep last night. It sabotaged an opposite message the devil was suggesting, and my wandering thoughts were mulling. “This is my Father’s world, and to my listening ears all nature sings, and round me rings the music of the spheres. This is my Father’s world: I rest me in the thought…. Oh, let me never forget that though the wrong seems oft so strong God is the ruler yet.” Hallelujah on Gospel steroids!

One Day, this very earth will be filled, covered, saturated with your glory. Not might be, will be. And it will be populated with your gathered and glorified family. This was, is, and always will be your world—the canvas for the every-color-paint of your grace, redemption, and peace. You are creating a “Master-peace” because you are the Master and peace is the culture of your Kingdom.

As the hymn and your Word affirm, “the wrong seems oft SO strong.”  But you remain joyful, loving, and absolutely sovereign over “the earth, everything in it, and all who live on it.”  Hallelujah, you’re not just controlling all of history; you are also writing our individual stories.

Some of us wake up today in new chapters of our story we could not have imagined as 2026 began. But nothing takes you by surprise; you take all things by your grace. Father, “rest us” in this peace-giving good news. We don’t have to live as slaves to fear and worry; we can live with abandon to your glory and grace. Jesus is making all things new including us. Hallelujah, thank you, and So Very Amen.

Seeing Jesus, Seeing by Jesus, Seeing More of Jesus

Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?”  He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.” Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. Mark 8:23-25

Dear Jesus, what I see most clearly is myself in this story. I often see people other than they truly are—and I see them worse than “trees walking around.” I also look at this crazy, broken world with the shortsightedness of unbelief, the astigmatism of fear, and heart-cataracts of selfishness. Heal me Jesus.

First and foremost, I want to see you, Jesus—more of your truth, goodness, and beauty. For the better I see you, I’ll look at everything and everyone else through the corrective lens of the Gospel.

Like Abraham (Heb.11:10), I want a 20/15 vision of our ultimate home—our eternal abode you call “the new heaven and new earth” (Rev.21:1-5). Indeed, show me more of the “better-by-far-ness” of heaven so I will serve you with more joy, love, and hope till the Day you return.

Jesus, help me see, acknowledge, and love tears more—mine and the tears of others. Some things can only be accurately seen through the lens of our heart-water. You honor our tears enough to bottle them, so we shouldn’t be in a hurry to either dismiss or despise them.

Help me see my family, friends, and strangers in new and redemptive ways. Your image is in all of us. Your heart is for each of us. Your hand continues to write stories with the ink of grace, a steady hand, by the timeline of heaven. Hallelujah, thank you, and So Very Amen.

“Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus” (1Thess.5:18)

Lord Jesus, since gratitude is more a heart-habit than a warm-fuzzy, I want to start this Tuesday remembering a few of the “good and perfect gifts” that are expressions of your matchless generosity—starting with the best and most perfect gift of all—you, Jesus.

To have you alone would be 10,000 reasons enough to slay my self-pity and stay eternally grateful. You are the definitive “Yes!” to the question, “Can I be certain God loves me?” By your life, death, and resurrection—we have received tons of “newness”: The new birth, new hearts, a new and perfect record—your own righteousness. A new citizenship in heaven above and the soon-to-arrive “new heaven and new earth” (Rev.21:1-5). Hallelujah for the Gospel!

Jesus, I also thank you today for Gospel-friendships that age like fine cheese—better, richer, and more aromatic as time advances. Thank you for your absolute sovereignty over history, kings, every crisis, and all our kids and grands. Thank you for already defeating the devil and death, and for the closer-than-ever eradication of cancer and cancerous attitudes, narcissism and nukes, worry and wars, hunger among children and greed among adults.

Thank you that the global advancing of the Gospel is more heart-encouraging than global warming of the earth is disheartening. Thank you for the colors blue and green, the taste of gooey cinnamon buns and pistachio gelato, for tight lines when we fish and multi-color leaves when October gets here.

Lastly for today, thank you for not exaggerating when you told us you are working in ALL things for our good and that you are actively making ALL things new. Jesus, turn our whines into worship and our fears into faith. Hallelujah on Gospel-steroids, and So Very Amen.

Be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Rom.12:2). “Capture every thought for obedience to Christ” (2 Cor.10:5). “Those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit” (Rom.8:5). “Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable” (Phil.4:8).

Lord Jesus, as those who know and love you, we often get asked: “Are you in a discipleship group? Do you have a spiritual mentor?” The most honest answer by each of us is a resounding “Yes!”—whether we’re aware of it or not. Whoever or whatever is capturing our imagination, filling our minds, forming our convictions, and seizing our affections is discipling us.

Some of us have disciplers who love you and us deeply—who are Gospel-saturated and joyfully equipped with a Biblical worldview. Others of us have disciplers who come to us in the form of bombastic broadcasters and political pundits, podcast prophets and ideological purveyors. But we also have a community of powerful disciplers living inside us. They are our loudest fears, deepest insecurities, treasured idols, and unresisted lusts.

Jesus, help us identify who are real disciplers are. Rescue us, free us, consume and compel us with yourself and your glory. Connect us who those love you first and seek first your Kingdom. Only you are worthy of our attention, allegiance, affection, and adoration.

By the power of the Holy Spirit, may your beauty, goodness, and truth be the most treasured and life-transforming realities in our lives. You aren’t an add-on, worldview, philosophy of life, political party, or means to any end. Most blessed Lord Jesus, you are our Creator, Redeemer, and King—our righteousness, peace, and joy—the meaning of everything, the sovereign over all things, and the glorious hope of all history. Hallelujah, and  So Very Amen.
